Yuh, Yuh, Yuh。。。 this is that banger!!!Honestly, no over exaggeration needed, this book is amazing from the fight texts, to the character development, and even past that to the well analyzed and beautiful machinery。 The story itself is a deep one that uplifts you, inspired you, saddens you, shocks you and even submerses you to the point of no Escape。 I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action, adventure, and of course the underdogs uprising。 There’s only one thing that irritates s bu Yuh, Yuh, Yuh。。。 this is that banger!!!Honestly, no over exaggeration needed, this book is amazing from the fight texts, to the character development, and even past that to the well analyzed and beautiful machinery。 The story itself is a deep one that uplifts you, inspired you, saddens you, shocks you and even submerses you to the point of no Escape。 I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action, adventure, and of course the underdogs uprising。 There’s only one thing that irritates s but also entices me the same amount and that’s the main characters continuing self conflict。 You’ll love it so much you’ll hate when it ends。 。。。more

This book continues the story arc started in the last volume showing what's happened to Shin's group after escaping to the Federacy。 Volume 2 ended with a bang and this book quickly picks up where it left off and runs with it。 Now granted this is a military sci fi series but even so this volume felt very strictly battle and battle planning focused compared to the previous volume。 Not a complaint, just an observation。 Overall this was an excellent novel with fantastic battles, increasing tension, This book continues the story arc started in the last volume showing what's happened to Shin's group after escaping to the Federacy。 Volume 2 ended with a bang and this book quickly picks up where it left off and runs with it。 Now granted this is a military sci fi series but even so this volume felt very strictly battle and battle planning focused compared to the previous volume。 Not a complaint, just an observation。 Overall this was an excellent novel with fantastic battles, increasing tension, and some good (albeit somewhat repetitive) introspection and character development on Shin's part。 With his brother gone and the Republic behind them Shin now finds himself floundering with what to do next。 While none of them can rest while the Legion are around, the group still finds themselves asking what exactly they are fighting for? Its not the Republic and never really was。 Its not the Federacy either as they have no loyalty to that or the people in it。 So what's left for them? Its a sad, stark look at how the treatment by the Republic has affected them。 However, the book makes it clear as it progresses that the Federacy's hands, while not as stained as the Republic's, are still not completely clean when it comes to how they treat the 86 and continue to use them in battle。 Its fascinating to see the Legion's tactics as they change to suit the situation under that of the Shepherds and how different they are from humans who have to worry about financing, materials, and politics。 The new development of the Legion's railgun makes for a dangerous and interesting situation and I greatly enjoyed reading this novel。 。。。more

3。5 STARS。 I can’t tell you how excited I was for this volume。 Ever since I read the prologue in the first volume I’ve been hyped for everyone to get together at the end of this one again。Something about this whole series just touches my heart。 I’m not sure what it is。 Maybe it’s the characters。 Maybe it’s the themes。 Maybe it’s the death, but each volume has delivered on it。 In this one, it just had those elements of how it’s not just certain people that discriminate and just how much it’s a hu 3。5 STARS。 I can’t tell you how excited I was for this volume。 Ever since I read the prologue in the first volume I’ve been hyped for everyone to get together at the end of this one again。Something about this whole series just touches my heart。 I’m not sure what it is。 Maybe it’s the characters。 Maybe it’s the themes。 Maybe it’s the death, but each volume has delivered on it。 In this one, it just had those elements of how it’s not just certain people that discriminate and just how much it’s a humanity issue and not a specific group one。This one felt a little slower than it’s predecessors, but I expected that。 I still had fun with it。 Again, the ending was just EPIC。 I loved the flower scene and the ending!!! I’ve been waiting for it! <3 <3 I’m so glad I have the next volume to read right away!CONTENT NOTE: This had several uses of strong language。 。。。more

Great ending! This books ends the first arc for this story in a great way, which is a rare case for this type of litnovels。 Great action scenes and a nice flow in the story。 A little weak on character development, focusing only on two or three characters in total。 Overall a good reading, for sure will read the next books in this serie。

A mildly intriguing, occasionally dramatic and indisputably sloppy conclusion to an otherwise very promising military sci-fi exploit。 EIGHTY-SIX #3, technically, is volume two-point-five, since the publisher split the sequel into two separate releases, but the problem with this volume rests chiefly with the author's penchant for overwriting。 This book is truly sufficient only for readers who thrive on lackluster secondary characters, haphazardly assembled antagonists, boorish middle arcs, and an A mildly intriguing, occasionally dramatic and indisputably sloppy conclusion to an otherwise very promising military sci-fi exploit。 EIGHTY-SIX #3, technically, is volume two-point-five, since the publisher split the sequel into two separate releases, but the problem with this volume rests chiefly with the author's penchant for overwriting。 This book is truly sufficient only for readers who thrive on lackluster secondary characters, haphazardly assembled antagonists, boorish middle arcs, and an infantile grasp of the storytelling strategies that capitalize on all the nervous tics and hiccups of amateur authorship。EIGHTY-SIX #3 is a chaotic endgame that puts a pretty bow on Shin's apparently redoubled effort to eliminate the most troubling voices in the back of his mind。 This is two-fold: after killing his brother, Shin is abruptly "lost" and without a purpose in life; the next threat from the Legion is a weapon in possession of the mind of Kiriya, the long-dead guardian of little Frederica (as well as a "distant relative" of Shin's family)。 These two bifurcations of Shin's self-doubt propel the novel forward。 Regrettably, neither of them are particularly compelling。The authenticity of Shin saving the annoying little empress by killing off his distant kin felt doable in the previous volume, but was definitely overplayed in the current one。 Part of the problem rests the author switching the narrative point of view, at random, and inserting an array of emotions into a character (Kiriya), who for all intents and purposes, doesn't actually exist anymore。 Further, the notion that a soldier-of-fortune would lose his locus of survival upon achieving a previously regarded "great" accomplishment is a mark of terribly feeble character building。This novel is a breeze to read but ultimately lacks the cogent plotting required for readers to feel as naturally invested in killing Kiriya or enduring the attack of a railgun as, say, they did when ducking behind the ruins of a desiccated village to survive the second or third Legion assault of the day。 That's the difference between the current volume and the original。 In the first volume, survival and good health were never guaranteed measures of success。 Now they are conveniences allotted to the consistently lucky 。 。 。 and in EIGHTY-SIX #3, Shin and his crew are a very, very lucky lot。There remain all the problems of the author's previous works (poor pacing, unequal and confusing narrative points-of-view, incomprehensibly designed mecha) plus a few new wrinkles (chatty AI, melodrama, philosophizing survivor's guilt, horribly drawn maps)。 It's also unfortunate the novel's original political current has completely vanished at this point。 But, even though the bad is fairly bad, the good is still pretty good。 When the author gets down to it, scenes at the heart of battle remain one of the novel's core elements。 Shin, as always, remains a badass。 That's fun, too。 But that's all。 。。。more

While the plot is interesting, the writing style was boringThe author was trying to be really deep with his analysis of Shin, but ended up repeating the same words over and over。You would usually use different points of view to convey more informationHaving 3 characters say something is red doesn’t make it reder, just boring to read。

One of the best war stories I have read。Ever since I read the first 86 book I have been entralled by the story。 This, the third installment in the series is not different。In this volume, Shin, the main character, has to fight not only the relentless and merciless legion but his own self。 His team, with himsellf on the lead, embarks in what can be called a suicide mission, except the orders given to them were "Come back alive"。 Shin feels dead inside, will he find a new purpose in life or will he One of the best war stories I have read。Ever since I read the first 86 book I have been entralled by the story。 This, the third installment in the series is not different。In this volume, Shin, the main character, has to fight not only the relentless and merciless legion but his own self。 His team, with himsellf on the lead, embarks in what can be called a suicide mission, except the orders given to them were "Come back alive"。 Shin feels dead inside, will he find a new purpose in life or will he allow the war to claim him? 。。。more
